Mark Birnbaum Passion

Mark Birnbaum along with his partner Eugene Remm have pursued their passion of working in the nightlife industry. It's important to pursue all the things that ignite passion because it spurs creativity, interest, and a willingness to keep going.

Without passion Mark Birnbaum wouldn't have continue through the ups and downs of doing business in New York City. It's a highly competitive place and the passion allowed Mark Birnbaum to make the most of the opportunities.

Passion allowed Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm to succeed with EMM Group. It has propelled them forward.

As Bruce Kasanoff writes here:
People are smart about the things that are of most interest to them. Malcolm Gladwell argues that "genius" starts with an intense love of something, which translates to the ability to spend immense amounts of time achieving mastery of that area.
Mark Birnbaum had a passion for succeeding, and it allowed him to follow all that has excited him.

Mark Birnbaum History

Mark Birnbaum

Mark Birnbaum is out to reach the sky’s limits. Together with Eugene Remm, Birnbaum created a Manhattan nightclub that no one ever thought would last. Opening Tenjune in August 2006, the upscale 5,000 SF club in the Meatpacking district bolstered revenue of $12 million in 2007.

Your average individual would have been satisfied with the pot and consider themselves a lucky person, but not Birnbaum and his partner. EMM Group is the name given to the pair’s new ventures, which includes restaurants, lounges and a luxury concierge service. There’s even a house used for private gatherings and parties! EMM Group has now rose to a $30 million per year company with 30 employees. Michael Hirtenstein, a partner of the two men, joined the group in 2008. Hirtenstein owned a Wall Street telecommunications company before selling it in 2005 for $270 million.

After Mark Birnbaum teamed up with Remm after rival birthday bashes. Together the men raised $800,000 to open the Manhattan upscale nightclub. The timing couldn’t have been better- Fashion Week and the MTV Video Music Awards were just around the corner. A P. Diddy hosted book launch party began the nightclub’s road to success, where names such as Beyonce and Jay-Z making the list of celebs in attendance.

The duo’s concierge service opened in late 2007 and the following summer an eight-bedroom Sag Harbor home with a price tag of $3.9 million attached was purchased. They even run the Chandelier Room in the W Hotel in Hoboken, NJ! When Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy the duo was ready, putting $2 million to secure the three-floor restaurant and club space now available. And, it was only one block from Tenjune! Abe & Arthur’s is another of the EMM Group ventures. This restaurant serves the finest $88 porterhouse steaks your money could buy. It also produces annual revenue of $10 million for the team!

Talk about a few good men that you can’t keep down! But, when you find something good you stick to it, and each and every one of the operations lives up to the highest of expectations and desires. The clubs, the restaurants and hotel serves the best of the best and leaves them impressed.

Happy New Year from Mark Birnbaum!

Happy 2013 Everyone!

Obviously, everyone celebrates the new year differently, but we all use it as an opportunity to start new. For some, it means making resolutions. For others, it's about letting go of their troubles that haunted their last year. After all, it's a new year, and we want to embrace all the new opportunities that are there for us.

Tenjune saw a lot of amazing people come out this New Year's Eve and celebrate. Everyone who came had a great time and was happy celebrating their own way, whether with champagne, countdowns, or kisses. Everyone was excited and thrilled to say goodbye to 2012 and a warm welcome to 2013. Whether that excitement about the new year continues remains to be seen.
The nightlife is always vibrant for New Year's. However, the better question is how vibrant will your daylife be. Will you truly make a change for this year? Too often, people make too many promises to change after not changing all year. So this year, try to focus on only one thing that you want to improve on and make it better.

Why Tenjune is called Tenjune

Tenjune
Mark Birnbaum is a figure that everyone from celebrities to regular partygoers associate with a fun night out in New York City.  He is the cofounder of EMM Group, one of the biggest hospitality fixtures in New York since its launch in2006.

EMM Group has become one of New York’s biggest management companies through the work of Mark Birnbaum , Eugene Remm and the entrepreneur Michael Hirtenstein. After years of exceeding standards, they have become leaders in the scene. Their initial nightlife endeavor was “Tenjune” which is a club in the middle of the Meatpacking District and one of the most desirable locations for many celebrities and fun loving party goers.

They also brought another expansion in 2009 into the hotel-lounge industry as The Chandelier Room at the W Hoboken Hotel. Mark Birnbaum and his business associates unveiled a newer addition from their mushrooming portfolio and it was Abe & Arthur’s, a restaurant near a boutique nightclub SL on W 14th Street. All their establishments are top-class and the excitement level found there is very unbelievable.

Incidentally Tenjune got its name because both Mark and Eugene have birthdays on June 10. When they celebrate it, you know everyone's having a blast.

US Weekly profiles Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm

Mark Birnbaum and  Eugene Remm have been friends for a long time, and business partners for years. They have done a lot between opening Manhattan's Tenjune and the lounge SL, have also recently opened Abe & Arthur's restaurant in the Meatpacking District. This also gives them more time to work out. Remm says, “People focus so much on spending money on clothes. If they went to the gym instead, their clothes would fit three times better than paying for some random expensive designer.”

Little known fact: Mark Birnbaum owns a rare pair of Converse, designed, and even signed by John Varvatos himself. “He made four pairs, and I got one of them. They’re like an art piece, so I put them in a glass display case,” he says.

Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm are business partners and best friends

Athletes Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen have made a great partnership.
Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm have been friends for a long time. More importantly they have been successful business partners with their joint venture of EMM Group. They built their friendship on hard work and common goal. Some could make this situation work while others haven't.

Teamwork is important as well a shared vision of achievement. It's important to make all the different personalities click together. There are some great quotes bout individuals working together to achieve something much greater.

·       “We have different personalities and different skills and the kind of things that we do, we can do together that neither of us can do separately. We’ve been working together so closely that it’s kind of hard to decide what’s my work and what’s her work, it’s ours really.” Guy Burgess

·       “Amy Poehler and I have been friends for so long, we’re like Oprah and Gale. Only we’re not denying anything.” Tina Fey

·       “I love Salma Hayek, we’ve been friends for a really long time. I admire how she has come such a long way and always remained grounded and who she is. She never compromises to follow her vision and she is loyal. Such qualities only mark the great stars.” Penelope Cruz

·       “Jennifer and Lisa [Kudrow] and I ate lunch together every single day for 10 years.” Courtney Cox

·       “A friendship founded on business is better than a business founded on friendship.” John D. Rockefeller

·       “It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

It's great when two people can work together, because the strength of one will make up for the weakness of the other.

NEW RESTAURANT IN MEATPACKING BY MARK BIRNBAUM (EMM GROUP)

http://newyork.metromix.com/restaurants/article/hot-plates/2840877/content

Catch
The EMM Group (Lexington Brass, Abe & Arthur's) dropped a line into the drink and reeled in former "Top Chef" contestant Hung Huynh to be the executive chef at their new tri-level restaurant in the Meatpacking District. The restaurant itself takes up the second and third floors of the building, while a lounge with an outdoor space sits on the fourth floor. Huynh menu, which he refined with EMM big-brass chef Franklin Becker, veers seafood-heavy with global flavors. Think calamari stuffed with crab and chorizo and served with chickpeas and piquillo peppers, and Dungeness crab tagliatelli with roe and scallion-tomato sauce. Expect this place to be a scene when it opens on Oct. 1. (21 Ninth Ave. between 13th and Little West 12th St., 212-392-5978)

EMM Group is owned by Eugene Remm, Mark Birnbaum and Michael Hirtenstein
